The internationally famous artist and old friend of mine, Ron English, sent me his poem in March of 2020 just as the lockdown came about. He was the first person I knew who got Covid. His words blew me away and I selected some of the verses and wrote this song. It's a complicated take on religion and the logical circles around being a born sinner with the gift of redemption. We get to sin again and again and again.
But the opening lines hit me in my heart = Heaven is the air, after your last breath. So hopefull!

Heaven is the life after the death.
Heaven is the air after your last breath.
Heaven is for the sinners God chose to bless.
Heaven is for those who pass every test.
God created heaven
from our imaginations
then he explained heaven
in seven revelations.
You can say a prayer
at all fourteen stations
but true belief
is your only obligation
Heaven is the paint moved by Michelangelo.
Heaven is the sperm inside the embryo.
Heaven is the place the devil dares not go.
Heaven is the truth God said was so.
The good lord created
Original Sin
Then he created redemption
So we could all sin again
Heaven is the life after the death.

Heaven if for the sinners God chose to bless.
Heaven is for those who pass every test.

For those who believe in redemption
get to sin and sin again and again
